
I was thinking about vista, mac etc and I thought about how linux needs some innovation to take up a level or two from those two, not that it isn't already far better than the competition.
That made me think of animation, why not have a fully animated desktop background. I know it sounds hardcore on system resources and distracting for the eye.
Though it can be done really innovatively. Imagine a cave with bats flying round it or a house with the lights turning on and off and showing signs of activity.
The animation doesn't have to be system intensive and the effect could make the desktop more dynamic and usable.
I expect it should be made using jpg or png, as gif's look awfull.
